In 2009, the complex on Valentinskamp, Caffeemacherreihe and Speckstrasse was occupied by artists. The complex had already been sold to a Dutch investor and 80% of it was to be demolished. After massive protests, it was bought back by the city and converted into an alternative housing and work project on a cooperative basis. Some things are still in the planning stages, others are finished.
