At the Cascada da Bernina waterfall, the Bernina stream plunges over around two hundred meters towards the bottom of the valley. In addition to the natural event, visitors can also expect a technical pioneering achievement. The Rhaetian Railway winds its way around tight curves and over historic viaducts on this passage. The neighboring Morteratsch power plant has been operated with water from the Bernina stream since 1891.
