The 3 km long cliff path leads around the Helgoländer Oberland. Especially romantic just before sunset, when the 60 meter high sandstone cliffs seem to glow red and the day visitors have left the island again.
Thousands of pairs of birds, such as kittiwakes, gannets, guillemots, fulmars and razorbills, nest on the narrow rock faces. A natural spectacle is every year in the second half of June of the "Lummensprung". The still flightless, about three weeks old guillemots hop, lured by their parents, 50 meters into the depths.
