The ventilation shaft, which was initially intended for the coal mine of Prussia II (Lünen-Horstmar), was sunk in the years 1925-1927. After the decommissioning of Prussia II came the expanding Wetterschacht 1931 to the Derner mine Gneisenau. Until the operational task in 1986, the so-called south wing of the mine was ventilated from here. The landmark, which can be seen from afar, characterizes the picture outside the village center in addition to the Lanstroper egg. The air shaft system built in the second half of the 1920s showed the will of the mining company, the Harpener Bergbau AG, to make the daytime facilities representative and aesthetic.
