The cathedral, also called Münsterbasilika, is the main Catholic church in Bonn and a landmark of the city. It was built in the 11th century as a Romanesque collegiate church of St. Cassius and Florentius of the Cassius Abbey. After the secularization of the abbey at the beginning of the 19th century and the demolition of the neighboring parish church of St. Martin in 1812, the cathedral came into the possession of the parish of St. Martin. Since 1956 the minster carries the title Basilica minor.

The cathedral is a bit dark, but you can enjoy great concerts there.
