The Russian colony was 1826-1827 at the request of Frederick William III. designed to commemorate his deceased friend Tsar Alexander I. It consists of a total of twelve small farmsteads and a boarding house on a hippodrome ground plan and a chapel on the associated Kapellenberg and a corresponding house of the overseer of the chapel, which was also referred to as a royal country house, since there entertained the king a tea room.
