Bananen-Radweg – Bahntrassenradeln

The low-traffic route on the connecting curve from the former Dortmund East to the South Station and further on the outermost section of the Rhenish Railway is extended at both ends and connected via a new "Emschersteg" to the resulting route system to Phoenixsee.

I can recommend the track unconditionally. In the middle of the city and yet something like a forest track!

The route continues northwards in an arc around the city to Weissenburger Straße.

The Bananenradweg is a busy pedestrian and bicycle path in the eastern city center on a section of a former railway line from the long abandoned Südbahnhof to the railway line to Münster. But more than half of the route is still resting in a deep sleep, the discussion about a further reconstruction was in the last few years but never really.

Today, in response to my request from the city, I received the information that the banana cycle path is to be expanded to the end of Güntherstraße by May 2023 :)

Nice bike path coming from Dortmund Hörde past the Kaiserviertel to almost Borsigplatz and then on to Nordstadt.
A very interesting tour, there is a lot to see and discover.

The Ostenfriedhof with its old trees and historical graves is worth a walk.
