The Museum of Contemporary Art Eduardo Westerdahl (MACEW) was founded in 1953 by the most important art critic of the Canaries of the 20th century, Eduardo Westerdahl.It began at the headquarters of the Canary Islands Institute of Hispanic Studies (IEHC), the owner of the collection. Today, the seat is in the Casa de la Aduana, in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife.It is, together with the previous Spanish Museum of Contemporary Art in Madrid, the first contemporary museum in Spain.
