The seven crosses of Simmersbach
Directly on the border of Simmersbach and Oberhörlen, above the Simmersbacher Schützenhauses are scratched on the smoothed wall of a slate rock seven crosses. The crosses point to Oberhörlen.
They were regarded by the inhabitants of the villages with superstitious awe. Are they atonement crosses? Are they tomb crosses? Or boundary marks?
According to legend, hundreds of years ago, a salt trader once traveled along the mountain road, accompanied by a donkey carrying the precious salt load. He was attacked by seven robbers who robbed him and beat him half dead.
To warn and warn against such a crime, the seven crosses were carved.
