The Neo-Gothic Stolzenfels Castle was only built as a summer residence on behalf of the Prussian Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm at the beginning of the 19th century. The complex stands on a 13th-century Courier castle, which was destroyed in 1689.

The classicistic Stolzenfels Castle, with its impressive layout, counts as the most outstanding building of the Rhine romanticism.
A tour of the castle should definitely be on the list when visiting this region. The castle cannot be visited in January and December. The opening times are shown in a photo in the highlight.

The castle was built in the 19th century from the ruins of a 13th-century castle. The ruin was given to the Prussian Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm by the city of Koblenz. He converted it to his summer residence, but was only there 7 times in total.
