Hiking Highlight (Segment)
We found the tour in a hiking map of Amden and thought, "What's that supposed to do?", Wildhaus, Sellamatt, what should that have to do with Arvenbüel?
As I read on, I saw that the tour is part of the Toggenburger Höhenweg and there was something! Yes, exactly, we had already made a piece of the Toggenburger Höhenweg, up from the dance floor, above Ebnat-Kappel. And the part was very nice! So the curiosity was piqued and we decided to try it out from the Sellamatt, so that we are in Arvenbüel in the evening and do not have to drive long public transport.
First of all, we had to find out how we could get to Sellamatt in the morning.
See there, there is an almost perfect connection by bus from Arvenbüel to Ziegelbrücke, then by train to Wattwil and finally the bus to the Sellamatt valley station. No waiting times when changing trains and so we were there in just under 1 1/2 hours and then 10 minutes up with the chairlift. Since we got up early :-) and started at 8:51 am, there was still plenty of time for a coffee on the mat. The march was then 11:30 am from the Berghaus Sellamatt terrace.
It was a pretty hot day, but there are plenty of places to stop on the way. If I remember correctly, we even skipped one. The route itself has everything to offer. It starts with a gentle climb at the foot of the Churfirsten, whose name I still cannot remember by heart. We continue on a kind of plateau past many beautiful Alps and alpine inns until it is almost a bit alpine and steep at the end. The final sprint is the relatively steep descent to Arvenbüel, past the wing tip known to us from one of the previous tours.
It was another great day and now I know how to get from Sellamatt to Arvenbüel on foot!
