The Schauspielhaus Berlin was commissioned by the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm III. Built between 1818 and 1821 by architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. It was badly damaged in World War II and only reopened in 1984, but as a concert and event hall.
Since 1994 it bears the name Konzerthaus Berlin.
