The farm shop (written here as Gofladen) has been closed permanently for a long time.

The park with Garath Castle is - in addition to the nearby Rhine - the green lung of the densely built-up district. In 1978 the city of Düsseldorf purchased the property from Deutsche Post. The buildings are used by service companies and can also be booked for private festivities such as weddings. The spacious park, on the other hand, is fully accessible. Families, walkers and cyclists like to stay here. The Riethrather Bach runs through the picturesque green area with the beautiful trees. The park got its current shape at the end of the 19th century. The garden area around the manor house was redesigned at the beginning of the 20th century. Only ruins remain from the former Garather flour mill from 1597. Particularly attractive: in spring thousands of squillies transform the meadows into a carpet of blue flowers. From knight's seat to "castle"
The castle is barely more than 100 years old, but the history of the property goes back to the Middle Ages. The original manor of the Lords of Garderode was converted into a manor in the 16th to 18th centuries. But today only the gate tower from 1610 remains. The remaining buildings were only built in 1913 after Albert von Burgsdorff acquired the property and had the demolished manor house of the previous owner Paul Poensgen, which was only built in 1891, torn down. In 1916 the von Burgsdorff family built their private chapel in the park. Here you can get married today. Incidentally, it was only after the last new building in the 20th century that the term "castle" became established for the Garath manor.

In addition to this great old castle, there are many more in the area

The historic castle was unfortunately torn down and rebuilt at the beginning of the 20th century. Still a nice, quiet place and a nice change from the multi-storey houses in the area. The renatured river course is worth seeing.

The historic palace complex offers a picturesque backdrop and very beautiful architecture. In 1978 the city of Düsseldorf became lord of the castle. You use the premises primarily for cultural events.
