The Schlebusch-Harkort Railway goes back to Friedrich Wilhelm Harkort (1793-1880), often referred to as the "father of the Ruhr area". He wanted to secure the coal supply for his ironworks in Hagen-Haspe. In 1876 the first railway transported coal from the Schlebuscher Revier (Wetter an der Ruhr) to Haspe. In 1905, Hasper Hütte leased the now disused track for slag removal. In 1965, operations on the line were finally stopped. Today an industrial monument reminds of history.
