Frankfurter Allee was once the first major socialist prestige object in Berlin. Since 1949 she was called Stalinallee, until 1961 (not only the name) was again "de-Stalinized". Between Frankfurter Tor and Strausberger Platz impressive magnificent buildings were built with pretty facades, which made for parades and military parades what made. Between Strausberger Platz and Alexanderplatz, however, shows another picture. Here was another building policy pursued. Cultural buildings such as Kino Kosmos, Kino International and Café Moskau follow a functional and functional style.

By the turn of 1989, the former magnificent boulevard was quite run down. Today, the street is a listed building and was extensively renovated in the 1990s. Here you can literally experience an exciting piece of history on your bike in the truest sense of the word! Bring along enough time and look left and right, because here are all sorts of witnesses that it is worth discovering.

The Frankfurter Allee is one of the oldest traffic routes in Berlin. It is the extension of the Karl-Marx-Allee in the direction of Frankfurt (Oder), part of the important federal highways 1 (the former Reichsstrasse 1) and 5 and has a length of 3.6 kilometers.

Connection from the east to the center (Alex). Main traffic and arterial / arterial road, therefore a lot of car traffic. Still suitable for cyclists because of the good bike path.
