Hiking
The old town is the original core of the former village of Leinefelde with listed half-timbered houses. The “Zur Insel” building is the birthplace of Johann Carl Fuhlrott, the discoverer of the Neanderthal man. A memorial stone was erected here in his honor. You can also visit the Leinering spring in the garden of this house.
