The double cross stands on the old Kirchweg from Obermelbecke to Elspe. It is one of the few double crosses in the Sauerland. There are three stories for the double cross.
At the first, a wedding carriage is said to have overturned here and buried the bride and groom coming from the church in Elspe.
According to another story, two school children are said to have been killed by lightning there.
