Castle Hoheneck was first mentioned in 1132 in the founding document of the monastery Heilsbronn.1381 sold Arnold von Seckendorff Hoheneck land and forest to the Nuremberg burgrave Friedrich V. This called a few years later, the Oberamt Hoheneck to life. 1462, the castle was burned in the war between Margrave Albrecht of Brandenburg and the Hochstift Würzburg.
The Oberamt Hoheneck included the Vogtamt Lenkersheim, the caste office Ipsheim, the Schultheißenamt Markt Bergel and the Burgenheißenamt Burgbernheim. The Oberamt Hoheneck was in the period of the Prussian administration in the chamber office Ipsheim on. At the end of the 18th century there was a household in Hoheneck. The high court exercised the brandenburg-bayreuthische Vogtamt Lenkersheim. The castle had the caste office Ipsheim as landlord.
