The Bode Museum in the Mitte district of Berlin is part of the building ensemble on Museum Island and thus a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built by Ernst von Ihne in neo-baroque style as Kaiser-Friedrich-Museum on behalf of Kaiser Wilhelm II. 1898–1904, it currently houses the sculpture collection and the Museum of Byzantine Art as well as the coin cabinet. [1] On the forecourt was an equestrian statue of Friedrich III created by Rudolf Maison, which was destroyed during the GDR era.In 2019 the Bode Museum recorded around 260,000 visitors.
