Heeswijk Castle has an eventful history that goes back to the year 1080. It has been destroyed and rebuilt many times over the centuries. The current form dates from 1835, the result of a thorough renovation and extension in accordance with the wishes of André, baron van den Bogaerde, who turns Castle Heeswijk into his living and working palace. He is best known as the first Governor of the King in Brabant after the secession of Belgium in 1830. The Province has called Castle Heeswijk as the Top Monument of Brabant and is open to the public 6 days a week.

One of the larger castles in the Netherlands. Very nice and quiet location. Accessible via the Heeswijk road to Veghel, but also via the N279 Veghel - 's-Hertogenbosch (at the parking lot of the whisper boat).
