Bike Touring Highlight
From the Langenzugbrücke you have great views of the Außenalster to the Telemichel and over the Langen Zug to the Osterbek Canal.
The Langenzugbrücke is one of the first concrete bridges in Hamburg and was clad with shell limestone. This makes it look like a stone bridge. It is 40 meters long and has three passages, of which the middle one, with a width of 18 meters, is the largest and was intended for steamer traffic. The foundations for the caretaker's house, steps and the landing stages for landing passengers can still be recognized by the central pillars. It is listed with the number 21684 as a monument in the list of monuments of the Hamburg cultural authority.
The Langenzugbrücke was built between 1909 and 1911 and replaced an iron bridge that ran over the Lange Zug at this point.
