Mountain Biking Highlight
Lietzow is coming from the mountains on the Jasmund peninsula, directly at the narrowest point between the small and large Jasmund lagoon. In the middle of the small town there is a striking building that resembles a small castle. In fact, it is a kind of miniature copy of the Lichtenstein Castle near Reutlingen in the Swabian Jura.
It was built around 1893 by the builder of the railway line across the Lietzow dam. First the building was called "Villa am Dorf", later "Schlösschen Lichtenstein". It is a two-storey plastered building with a tile-roofed gable roof and a high, round tower. The owners of the building changed several times. It has been privately owned since 1997 and is extensively reconstructed and renovated.
