The road from Lübeck via Oldesloe, Ochsenzoll to Schnelsen was built in 1840 under the reign of Christian VIII, King of Denmark and Duke of Holstein.
The route areas from Elmenhorst to Garstedt (Ochsenkrug) and the connecting area to the Altona-Kieler Chaussee could be opened to general traffic on November 1, 1840 and December 1, 1841, respectively. There are still 14 milestones along the entire route, starting from Schnelsen, which are divided into 7 full miles and 7 half miles. Since the Hanseatic city of Lübeck had already expanded its road network before 1840, the Danish king and his Danish administration were not allowed to set any further milestones in the Lübeck area, so that the number of 14 milestones can be regarded as complete. All milestones have been listed for many years. The road from Schnelsen to Lübeck has a length of approx. 71.4 kilometers (1 mile = approx. 7.52 kilometers).
