Lanstoper egg
The water tower has long been nicknamed "Lanstroper Egg", although it actually stands on Greveler Grund and is also not egg-shaped. The tower has been on the list of monuments since 1985.The water tower, visible from afar, was designed by the company August Klönne in Dortmund for the municipal gas and waterworks in Unna in 1904/05 and used until 1980 for the water supply of Lanstrop, Derne, Mengede, Brambauer and parts of the city of Lünen.
The first high water tank of this type was installed at the Minister Stein colliery in 1899. The Lanstroper egg is the last remaining Barkhausen container in the Ruhr area. At a height of 18.30 m and a diameter of 14 m, the container held 2,000 m³ of water. The whole tower is 60 m high.
