The old pavement in the city center are nice to look at but as a cyclist you will be shaken vigorously.

On the pretty market square you can enjoy wonderful coffees and cakes, an ice cream or who likes a fish sandwich.

Tip: the cabin "1876" is slightly off the beaten track, less hustle and bustle and from the garden behind the house can be wonderful watch the passing boats.

Very beautiful place on the Eider and the Treene with Dutch canals and brick buildings. In addition to many culinary options, cruises on the canals by excursion steamers and pedal boats are also offered. A very nice and worth seeing place and always worth a visit.

Already at first glance you can see where the climatic health resort Friedrichstadt on the North Sea Schleswig-Holstein has its roots: The canals, bridges and Treppengiebelhäuser speak their own, namely Dutch language. "Klein Amsterdam" or "Holländerstadt" is usually mentioned in the same breath as Friedrichstadt.
The many waters for the canals come from the rivers Eider and Treene, which meet in Friedrichstadt and also stand outside for a fertile, charming nature reserve. On extended bike rides or canoeing you can explore the beauties of this region.
Another passion of Friedrichstädter are the roses. Combined in all its splendor with the cobblestone streets and the white Treppengiebelhäuschen offers the holidaymakers a romantic backdrop.

A great town with many interesting corners. We stayed at the new Mooi Hotel, highly recommended. From there we explored the area. Have fun in Friedrichstadt

The town of Friedrichstadt, situated between the rivers Eider and Treene, was founded in 1621 by the duke of Friedrich Friedrich III and today is a high-ranking cultural monument. The city, also known as "Little Amsterdam", offers a fascinating history as well as the possibility to do canal cruises by boat or stand up paddling, to go cycling or hiking tours or just to relax and embrace the Embiente. In addition to various hotels and pensions campsites or a youth hostel are available. The history of the city can be brought to life in the Museum "Alte Münze" or on a city tour.

The old paved streets in the city center are nice, but as a cyclist you need a good suspension. ;)
My tip: Just let the bike stand and explore the city on foot.
