Brandenstein Castle Brandenstein Castle is a high medieval tour near Schlüchtern-Elm. It was created around 1240, and was first mentioned in 1278 in the oldest documented evidence that has survived as the property of Hermann von Brandenstein. This is a hilltop castle, many parts of which have been preserved. The location offers a good view over the Kinzig valley. The surrounding mountain is mostly forested today, the southern slope is occupied by a meadow orchard. A museum can be found inside.
