The natural monument Kasberger Linde (also known as Kunigunden linden or French linden) is a linden on the edge of Kasberg. According to legend, the tree was planted by St. Kunigunde (around 930 to 1033). If the tree, as assumed, already existed during its lifetime, the tree is one of the 10 oldest trees in Germany. The linden tree was already a remarkable tree in the 14th century, since imperial regional court days were held here. In 1806 French troops are said to have lit a fire under the linden tree, causing the trunk to burn out. Today it is largely hollowed out, destroyed except for a steep incline, and is held together with iron clips and threaded rods.
