The Geigenbach Dam (also called Werda Dam) has been the drinking water dam for the city of Plauen for over 100 years.
From 1903 to 1909, the dam for drinking water supply and flood protection was built in the Geigenbachtal. It is the second oldest dam in Saxony. Its wall crown is 311 m long and 42 m high. The quarry stone wall consists of fruit slate, which was and is quarried in the nearby Theuma. It is a cultural monument in Germany. There is also a waterworks at this point.
Remains of a former settlement are said to be present in the storage space.
