At 3454m, the Erzherzog-Johann-Hütte on the Adlersruhe is the highest refuge in Austria. It is located in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park, right on the border between Tyrol and Carinthia. The hut is particularly popular as a base for normal ascent, as the ascent to the summit of the Großglockner only takes about 1.5 to 2 hours from here. Due to the unique location on the rock head of the Adlersruhe, the view of the surrounding mountains is overwhelming.
