Located directly in the town center, the Evangelical Church of Großbeeren was built in a neo-Gothic style from 1818 to 1820 according to a design by Karl Friedrich Schinkel. It replaced a previous building, which was destroyed in the second half of the 18th century. Compared to the characteristic field stone churches of the neighboring towns, the Schinkelkirche impresses with its exotic appearance. The floor plan takes the form of a Greek cross. The interior was also realized according to Schinkel's plans.
