The Gertrude church has its origin, which dates back to around the year 1000 AD and stands in the middle of a cemetery site. The current church building dates essentially from the 14th century and is therefore one of the oldest places of worship in the district of Celle. According to the latest findings, the wooden bell tower typical of the Lüneburg Heath was built in the years after the Thirty Years' War to remedy war damage. The interior is worth seeing with numerous art treasures such as the triumphal cross and the baptismal font from the 13th century. The attractive late Gothic carved altar dates from 1509.
