The castle Petzow has a varied history and is now privately owned. The owners have converted the castle into apartments and added several terraced houses in the courtyard. The magnificent and spacious garden of the listed castle is still not fenced, only the private areas are protected by hedges. Not far from the castle, you can also find the village church Petzow, which stands out for its unique architecture among the churches of Brandenburg.

Above is the "Alte Schmiede", a kl. Lacation with good food. The smithy is easy to overlook, so look closely and climb up. 😉

Owner of the castle was since 1814 the family of Kaehne, especially known by Friedrich August Kaehne. In 1825, the wealthiest man in the town, landowner and magistrate was commissioned by Karl Friedrich Schinkel to build a representative mansion, a picturesque building in a colorful mix of Moorish fort and English Tudor style, which is still visible from afar. C. F. Kaehne was raised in 1840 to the peerage. The village church Petzow is a former, neo-Romanesque religious building, which was built in the years 1841 and 1842 to a design by Karl Friedrich Schinkel. According to his designs, craftsmen also made the simple wooden altar with a crucifix made of cast iron, the pulpit and an oak quill. Developed in 1988 and leased to the district office for 99 years, since 1994 it has served the district as a venue for concerts, exhibitions and as registry office. The 15-hectare castle park was designed in 1838 by Peter Joseph Lenné. A unique Gesamtkunstwerk of architecture and landscape was created within the framework of Lenné's "beautification plan around Potsdam".Source:

The castle park is well maintained and a worthwhile destination. Then via the Berliner Chaussee (B1) to Geltow and on to Potsdam in the direction of Zeppelinstraße, and then continue through one of the parks.
