The south of the city of Essen is home to 150 hectares of nature conservation area: the Heisinger Ruhraue. It is named after the district of Heisingen, at the eastern edge of which it extends. It is the largest protected area in Essen and is home to wet meadows and wet meadows, some of which are used for agriculture. However, the meadows are always mowed only when the breeding season of the birds is over, so as not to endanger the eggs and juveniles.

In dry weather highly recommended. When it's wet, the paths are already very puddling.

Rad and Ruhr just fit together. No matter how and where. Simply plan and shimmy along the highlights. You will like it.
