The Thirty Years War did not spare the church, so that from 1652 to 1654 repair work had to be carried out, whereby the oak barrel vault was confiscated. In 1690 Georg Friedrich von der Wense and his wife Catharina Ehrengard von Alvensleben had the nave rebuilt to the preserved Gothic choir in baroque style. This resulted in the massive western tower of the tower in the Romanesque forms of the home church of the builder, which came from Hundisburg near Erxleben.

From the interior of the church are particularly from 1652 originating altar as well as the portraits of church renewers and the palace builder Cristian Ludwig von der Wense to admire. There is also an antependium with underlaid brocade embroidery on red silk from 1639 showing scenes from the Passion story of Jesus. There is also a bronze baptismal font depicting Christ depictions and evangelist symbols.

Nice old church. I like to stop here for a photo when I pass here on my bike tours.

The church and the castle are historically significant.
