For centuries, Steinerskirchen has been a place of gathering, prayer and silence, and the area's apparently first stone church gave its name to the place that Irish monks may have been the builders as early as the 8th century. The square was not populated all that time, but remained a parish.
In 1985, the Sacred Heart missionaries built the oasis, an educational and reflection house that aims to take up and pass on the grown intentions of the place. Naturally, the "preservation of creation" is a main focus. Anyone visiting Steinerskirchen can easily get an idea of it for themselves. 🙂
