Very interesting place.
These cave dwellings are really worth seeing. Most of them emerged from a housing shortage in the mid-19th century. The workers of the estate urgently needed housing and were able to buy a piece of rock wall for eight groschen. With a hammer, pickaxe and chisel, they then hewn an approx. 30 square meter apartment in the soft sandstone over a period of 2 - 5 months. The apartments had a living room, bedroom, children's room and a pantry. A chimney led upstairs, and beneath it was a brick hearth. The front rooms had glass windows and the door was made of wood. A crack above the door and the chimney provided air circulation. The pasture for the sheep and goats was on the roof of the caves. This management prevented the cave roof from being covered with bushes.
The last cave dweller left his cave in 1916.
The inhabitants of the caves were called troglodytes.
