Very nice atmosphere. Restaurant and bistro in the open, for the fine and the fast guest,

Heavy, wooden gate to the drawbridge

The drawbridge was completely renewed for the first time in the 19th century, later it was not functional for decades. Only since the extensive restoration in 2013 can it be pulled up like in the old days. As early as the 19th century it was reported that it was a difficult undertaking, today it is still a matter of skill and muscle strength of several men so that the 4.1 tons (including 1.2 tons counterweight) move upwards. The Wartburg is one of the few castles with a working drawbridge in Germany.

Wartburg, a hiking highlight. An overnight stay in the small hotel is also worthwhile.

Great and well-kept castle, here you can learn a lot of history, you can see incredibly beautiful rooms with mosaics. You can't list everything, but you should mention the great view over Eisenach far into Thuringia.

This is a duplicate of "Torhaus mit Wehrgang" and is incorrectly positioned about 50 m. (G)
