Mountain Biking Highlight
The Heinrich Heine Monument is a monument on the summit of the Brocken in the Harz Mountains in Saxony-Anhalt. It is reminiscent of the poet Heinrich Heine, who had stayed in the Brockenhaus on September 19-20, 1824 and processed this experience in his book Die Harzreise. On September 16, 1956, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Heine's death, a plaque was unveiled on a cliff. The badge was kept during the closure of the Brocken summit in Schierke from August 1961. On November 8, 1996, today's Heine Memorial was inaugurated on the initiative of the Harzklub branch association Schierke. A four-ton granite stone was placed between Brockenhaus and Wolkenhäuschen, to which the original Heine plaque was attached. To the left and right of the plaque are the dates 1797 and 1856, the life dates of Heine, worked into the stone in the lower area. Below is the inscription: HEINRICH HEINE.Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heinrich-Heine-Denkmal_(Brocken)
