At the corner of Kastanienallee / Oderbergerstraße, several yard sections were merged, cleared out, greened and opened in 1985 as "Hirschhof". The huge metal sculpture of a deer created by the sculptor Anatol Erdmann, Stefan Reichmann and Hans Scheib for the site shaped the naming of the legendary neighborhood project, which was built with the support of the city district. With plenty of cultural events on the new green space, the Hirschhof quickly became a trendy meeting place for the Prenzlauer Berger artists and intellectuals scene. Accordingly, the Stasi turned its attention to the action of freethinkers and regime critics in the new green between the dilapidated tenements.Today informed at Oderberger Straße 19, at the entrance to the square house of the new Hirschhof, a labeled board about the historic events, of which hardly a legacy has remained.
