The monument to the Girondins, located in Bordeaux, Place des Quinconces, was built between 1894 and 1902 in memory of the deputies Girondins victims of the Terror. The Bordelais commonly call it "column of the Girondins" or "monument of the Girondins". fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monument_aux_Girondins
Created at the beginning of the nineteenth century on the site of the castle Trompette, it is composed of an esplanade descending gently towards the Garonne framed north and south of plantations of trees. The imposing monument to the Girondins and two rostral columns decorate both ends. Its area (12 hectares), which makes it the largest square in France and one of the largest in Europe, allows it to host events such as concerts and fairs, including the fun fair (a party fairground), the Autumn fair (flea market) or the Cirque Arlette Gruss. Since the installation of the tram network, the square has become the most important connecting station of the public transport network of Bordeaux. fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Place_des_Quinconces
