Bike Touring Highlight
The former Benedictine monastery with the monastery church Preetz is one of the most important cultural monuments of our country and a gem in the district Plön. It was founded in 1216 by Albrecht of Orlamünde in honor of the Virgin Mary and John the Baptist. Nuns of the Benedictine Order led ora et labora the monastery to an economic, spiritual and cultural flowering. Since the Reformation (1542), the monastery is owned by the Schleswig-Holstein Knighthood, which converted it into a still existing dowry center, which is administered by the monastery board - Klosterprobst and Priörin.
The noble monastery Preetz is located 16 km southeast of Kiel in the district of Plön, on the B76 - nestled in the idyllic Holstein Switzerland.
The grounds of the noble monastery Preetz are accessible at any time - except for the monastery church, which can only be visited.
