Simply a great ascent over the Himmelsleiter to the 1,373 meter high Lusen, the fifth largest mountain in the Bavarian Forest. Sturdy shoes are highly recommended here! In addition, the sea of blocks up here is simply impressive and absolutely worth seeing. The many flat stones in the summit area are green moss in places and look almost surreal - like a stony sea. It's not just great fun for children to climb around and admire the great natural spectacle.

The promising mountain village on the Lusen owes its existence to the salt trade from Grafenau to Bohemia on the "gulden Straß" (golden road). In 1591 the city fathers of Grafenau received a loan of 1000 guilders from Duke Wilhelm for the "collection of the ancient guilder streets" and modernized the trade route.
