Working as a shoemaker isn't all that easy when your dog tries to steal your shoes and even mice make themselves comfortable in your workshop. With a cheerful image and a wink, the detailed sculpture commemorates the history of shoemakers in Preetz. Around 1850, there were 150 independent master shoemakers, 360 journeymen shoemakers, and 160 apprentice shoemakers. In addition to these, there were a large number of wooden slipper makers.
