Cycling around Deal

Once the busiest port in England, cycling around Deal reveals its many histories while allowing you to explore the wonderful, flat landscape. This seaside resort town lies on Kent’s far eastern coast, where the English Channel and the North Sea converge. To the north, you can pedal up to Sandwich and explore the edge of the River Stour’s marshes. To the south, take on some minor ascents to see the White Cliffs of Dover. Just outside Sandwich, discover the extraordinary Richborough Castle, a Roman fort. Due west of Deal, ride through quiet country lanes to find Chillenden windmill, one of the last post mills in the county.
