The goat fountain memorial commemorates the earlier goat keepers who used to take their stubborn animals on their way to the buck station outside of town. The billy goats had to be kept out of town because of their strong odor. It used to be almost impossible for the textile workers to keep a cow. Goats, however, were cheaper and brought milk and cheese. I think the Osnabrück artist really did a good job here and created a vivid monument.
