Wijnand Joseph Ackens ("Mediciene doctor") and his wife Louisa Pelser lived on the corner of Rosstraat and Kiebeukel at the end of the 19th century; they probably built this house around 1890. After Wijnand's death, his widow had the usufruct for some time, but later their children Dr. Joseph Ackens and his sister Marie Ackens came to live there through inheritance. Dr. Ackens (1857-1930) was a general practitioner in Gulpen for over 44 years.

Until the end of 2017, "de Timpaan" was the multifunctional community center of Gulpen. During the demolition, the facade stone was carefully removed, restored and then stored.
