The Della Gherardesca family had the building built in 1703 in memory of their ancestor Guido, a hermit. He lived between the 11th and 12th centuries.
You can also find the obelisk of Giosuè Carducci, which dates from 1908. It was built a year after his death.
Next door there is a beautiful lavender field which is often used for selfies.
Both can be found on Via Aurelia directly opposite the famous Viale dei Cipressi to Bolgerie.
