Our shelters in the Harz National Park are usually located in places worth seeing and are therefore popular hiking destinations. They serve as a short-term rest and break option and as protection in the event of bad weather. Overnight stays are only permitted in an emergency. In the interest of everyone, whether human or animal, our shelters must be kept clean.

The Bärenbrücke is located in the Große Bode valley at the foot of the Wurmberg. It is the largest bridge structure that crosses this tributary of the Warme Bode. At the Bärenbrücke there is an important crossroads and a rest area with the "Alfred-Rieche-Hütte". From the Bärenbrücke there are various options in the direction of Brocken, Wurmberg, Braunlage, Bodewasser Falls, Achtermannshöhe and countless more distant destinations. It is also an important landmark in the area between Wurmberg and Königskrug, which is indicated on a number of signposts in the area.
