The Mayenburg, a former court castle, adorns the Tisenser low mountain range and is considered a prehistoric fortification. From the early 13th century it was part of the fortification system of the Counts of Eppan and from around 1250 it became the property of the Counts of Tyrol.
Around 1920, the Auffinger family took over the dilapidated property and still owns it today. The only partially restored element of the castle is the keep. The ruins are not open to the public.

The Mayenburg adorns the Tisenser Mittelgebirge and lies on an elongated hill near Völlan near Lana. In 1229 the building was first mentioned as Castrum Mayberch, the keep dates from the beginning of the 13th century. When the family of the Counts of Eppan disappeared in 1253, the estate passed to the Counts of Tyrol. The Mayenburg was a court castle of the court Meran. The castle is still owned by the Auffinger family and is closed to visitors.

The Mayenburg, built before 1200, was probably part of the fortification system of the Counts of Eppan.
The old keep made of humpback blocks (with roof) reaches an impressive height of almost 28 meters. A circular wall with battlements encloses two castle courtyards, the palace and other buildings.
The Mayenburg ruins are privately owned and can only be viewed from the outside.
