Here the road crosses the old Kolonnenweg, which today still marks large parts of the former inner German border. This path was made on the part of the GDR from very weather-resistant concrete slabs and served the GDR border troops to move their vehicles.

Today you can ride this route "passable" by bike. Of course it bumps, but even with narrow tires you can drive here. And if you have the opportunity, like this branch here, then just do it. At least for a small piece. Because here you can experience history. You will not regret it.

From here you follow the Kolonnenweg either in the direction of Käßlitz or Schweickershausen. Using the former border path you can always turn onto other paths and reach other destinations. In contrast to the forest paths you may sometimes cover the shorter distance, but it is a bit more difficult here. The decision is yours.
